Tesla Opens FSD Safety Data to Push EU-Wide Approval — October 6 Vote

Tesla has open-sourced its Full Self-Driving Supervised EU safety case ahead of a critical October 6, 2026 EU-wide approval vote, releasing the same evidence dashboard shared with EU Member States in April 2026.

The data covers 3 billion FSD kilometers in 2025 and 102 million kilometers across 5 EU countries where FSD is already approved.

**Key safety metrics:** - FSD is 4.1× safer than manual driving across 102M EU km - 40–69% fewer major collisions vs manual Teslas by road type (highway 45%, arterial 69%, city 50%, local 40%) - 99% fewer minor collisions during highway lane changes; 93% fewer on non-highway - 74–84% fewer Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) events - 83–95% fewer harsh acceleration/braking events - 67% fewer highway fatigue events vs manual driving

**European engineering fleet validation:** - 1.6 million km with zero at-fault major or minor collisions - 230,000+ structured scenario tests across 8 countries, ~98% pass rate - 98.9% pass rate at roundabouts, 99.2% at intersections, 99.7% at crosswalks

**Current EU deployment:** FSD Supervised is approved in Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Estonia, and Lithuania. Over 70,000 customers are using it for more than 1 million km/day.

Tesla's statement on the EU vote: "European countries recorded 19,400 road deaths in 2025 — approximately 53 deaths per day, with the vast majority attributed to human error. These deaths are largely preventable with technology we have today. FSD Supervised is already saving lives where it's approved — yet in much of Europe, that safety benefit remains locked behind bureaucracy."

The EU-wide approval vote is scheduled for October 6, 2026. Source: tesla.com/fsd-evidence-dashboard
